UPDATE: Crisis averted! I can art again~

Just a quick shoutout to the people who I promised art to:

Rest assured, I haven't forgotten! I've just been having issues with my computer at the moment. I'll get right back into it as soon as the problems are dealt with. Thanks, and sorry for the wait!

The Mayan apocalypse was a fluke, and now we have an entire year to look forward to! I'll be rolling with this resolutions thing, seeing as I've done it two years in a row now.

First, a quick recap: Last year I set the bar fairly low. Happy to say that I've strengthened my basic art skills (or at least it feels like I did) in the past year, and that I've also been paying more attention to backgrounds (simple or otherwise) in my art. I still need to work on spending less time on the internet though. xD

Without further ado... my resolutions for 2013!

Update deviantID at least once a year
This didn't occur to me until my sister asked about my current ID. An update is way overdue. Changing it every once in a while should help keep things fresh and get some activity going on in this space!

Start taking commissions
I've been contemplating doing this for a long while now but never actually done anything about it. I'm looking to set things up within the year!

Continue learning Japanese
Last year was when I put more effort into learning Japanese. I can read and speak a little now but I still do it very slowly. Within the year I'll keep drilling myself on the basics, and hopefully by the end of the year I'll be able to read and write basic Japanese sentences as quickly as I can read English ones.

Graduate
If things goes as planned with school, I could be graduating within the year!

Aaaand done! My resolutions this year are more specific compared to last year's. I'm starting to think that I may be getting a better idea of what to do with my life. That's a good thing! Anyway, I hope 2013 treats you guys well! I'm definitely looking forward to what this year has in store for us. Take care and I'll see you all soon!

In the next few days I'll be uploading some stuff I've had on Tumblr for a while. Some of these date back to... wow, November of 2011. This is embarrassing LOL.

Thank you so much to those who've offered their advice and encouragement with regards to my previous journal entry! You guys know who you are. I've come to realize that I'd just be pushing myself into a corner the longer I keep up being a no-show. I'll try to make your watch count and be somewhat more active on here, even if the quality of work isn't always what I'd consider my best.

Umm... Yeah. Kinda embarrassed to poke my head here now. It's been so long since my last post. 'xD

Anyway, if anyone still stalks me on here, you probably noticed  that I've uploaded little to no art for quite some time now. I'd normally account that to the usual stuff like being busy with school (it's going pretty well, by the way!) and whatnot. But there's another reason...

I have a constant mental battle with myself about whether or not a piece of artwork is "good enough" to upload on here.

Over time I've developed this mentality that if I'm going to post something on deviantART, it has to be reasonably polished. Anything that falls beneath that standard should be kept away from public eye. I still do post what little doodles I can manage in other avenues like Tumblr - I feel less pressure there somehow - but when it comes to deviantART I feel like I should put my best foot forward and only my best foot forward.

I know it's just me being picky, but there you have it. I thought I'd get it out there for people who are curious as to why I haven't been around in a long time.

It's a little more than an hour into 2012 where I live and the fireworks are just starting to die down. I'm at the topmost level of a tall building in the middle of a bustling metropolis. Fireworks everywhere I turned! It was quite a sight~

I've never really been into the habit of making New Years resolutions, but I started with one last year; might as well carry on with it. Looking back on my 2011 resolutions, sad to say that I didn't quite make them happen. Apart from maybe the meeting deadlines part. Barely. I suck at this. xD

So, I'm going to make my resolutions less specific this year and instead go by one general theme: improvement.

Change in lifestyle
This is one that I intend to really focus on. Less internet time, more other-important-things time - like art.

Draw more studies
Strengthen the fundamentals!

Draw more backgrounds
Because I never do any.

I'm very eager to see these resolutions through. Hopefully I'll be able to live a fuller, happier, and more productive life by the end of 2012 and beyond~
